I didn't receive the notification for this post, dammit! I'm a wuss, so I'm not going to read this story, but thanks for another great review, Michael.
“… its hatred is... personal, almost human. It’s the embodiment of eternal resentment, an “artificial being” that, despite its god-like power, lacks the one thing it can never have: humanity itself.”
— this is such a good description!
Sounds like one scary story. Thanks for sharing it Michael. :)
"I Have No Mouth..." is both one of the best sci-fi stories and also one of the best horror stories. It creates a feeling of entrapment better that about any other story. The audio version , read/yelled by Ellison himself, is one of the greatest audiobook performances of all time.
Oh wow. Not sure how I feel about such short stories but I am sure it will hold a lot of reverence given the age that we live in now. Very interesting article.

I think there was a glitch in the email notification system a while back. But hopefully they fixed it. Thanks, Portia ;-)
Wow, back then in 1967 when AI was just fiction this piece was just that — horror fiction. Now that AI is real 😱😱😱 Is this our possible future?
Only if we lose all hope.

Thanks, Mir. I really appreciate your thoughts, man!
Oh, boy. No doubt one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever read…
Totally agree, I read it at someone’s request…’nuff said.
Yeah, same. Really.
RIP Harlan.
